This post was not inspired by January

(Personal photograph)

As if it will somehow make me seem like a more legitimate blogger, I feel like I should preface my post with this: I have not started writing (again) as a result of the pending new year. This is not a new year's resolution.

Instead, it's been spurned on after wrapping up a couple of huge projects in the last few months, leaving me at a bit of a loss as to what to do with myself now. So I decided to start blogging again, striking out into the world wide web as a new project to keep me moving forward.

What have I been up to? Firstly, I've produced two calendars in support of my boyfriend Jay's fundraising challenge, raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. It was a massive undertaking, but has been amazing fun. I felt incredibly blessed to be surrounded by the love and support of so many friends and colleagues, who volunteered their time as models, provided help sourcing props, or purchased the calendar. I'll post a makings of summary of the calendar soon, but if you're interested, the wall calendar is still available here (the photo up top is from the wall calendar).

My second big project was leading my own small show choir, made up of colleagues, to a performance at London's iconic Koko in Camden. We performed a 5 song set at the company's Christmas party a couple of weeks ago, with 3 choir numbers, a small group rendition of Last Christmas, and a solo of my own (accompanied by a talented and lovely pianist!).

The whole thing came together in just 6 weeks, which is an incredibly short length of time to bring together 10 performers who've never played or sung together, several of whom don't sing regularly, and learn new (to us) material that we were comfortable performing in public. Throw in a choir master (me) who's never led a choir before, and it had the potential to go horribly wrong (or make for wonderfully compelling reality television). Luckily, we pulled it off, and blessed with an incredibly supportive audience, it was a huge amount of fun.

Any big projects you're proud of recently?

PS. I'm aware the template is looking very pink right now. I'm working on it. I'm also aware that it looks a bit messed up if you're viewing in Safari, which doesn't please me- I'll work on that, too.
